Photo id/ref number: 11617279934/A127/H9177 Unloading the ships. The height of trading activity with the unloading of timber at the Newcastle Quayside.
I have been having a good look at the picture but am afraid that I cannot be any more accurate on a date than I was on the night. It is obviously after the completion of the Tyne Bridge (1928), and I reckon it is before the outbreak of the 2nd World War.
The vehicles in the picture appear to be all of late '20's - early to mid '30's vintage, and there is a horse drawn waggon in the foreground. My nearest guess is that it is circa.1935/6.
